I mean, it could also be that he had a phantom pain and couldn't take it anymore. Or an unrecorded infection that wasn't being taken seriously. Or he felt it was a phantom limb (or whatever that imposter limb thing is.) If it's just a kink then meh. That can't be the only explanation.
