  • I remember a few years back receiving a panicked call from my OH, running home from the pub to find my bike in the middle of the road, replicating this album cover

  • I was going to say kick it over and cut out the middle man, but thought that was too mean. Obviously I hope it avoids any damage however small.

  • Cheers.

Will try and get it next to a wall on its side stand once my kid has their nap.

Seems to be quite stable so far on the centre stand in the middle of the front area. At the moment I'm glad I never switched out the huge lump that is the stock exhaust!

My only concern is the place I can move it to is next to an alleyway which in normal times often has a ferocious wind tunnel. Whereas at the moment the wind seems to bounce around and come sort of head on.

Toyed with the idea of trying to charge and riding over to my mates. But after wrestling a shopping trolley in the car park earlier and seeing one of our fence panels is already down I'm not convinced about getting on a bike.

  • Back to the nicotine sponsorship. Came across this as I tidy my stuff.

  • That would be me! Although trying to convert to vaping at the mo šŸ˜

  • Some bikes donā€™t look right without a fag sticking out the mouth though.

Hoping heā€™s at the trial again, on Sunday. He looks the part.

  • In less than stellar newsā€¦ the Scorpa Easy that I bought as a project has turned into an ordeal.

All the other non-engine issues aside, I need to split the case to check all the internals and replace that entire crank assembly.

Itā€™d been over a fortnight and I hadnā€™t even got the bottom end out the frame.

First, the flywheel nut refused to budge. Cue a delivery of impact sockets and a budget Hilka gun to fit the compressor.

Then the flywheel itself was seized in place.

Then, the clutch nut. But that freed faster.

    But wait! Thereā€™s more!

Whoever thought having a swingarm axle/pivot bolt through the engine? Thanks. THANKS.

That bolt spins in the hole, but wonā€™t budge out. Seems bent a little maybe. Whatever the issue I canā€™t cut between case and swingarm, nor swingarm and engine case.

Asked the mechanics. They said ā€œwelcome to our worldā€ and agreed a bigger hammer is often the only way. Then, the guy showed me the wonky finger from smashing it where the hammer missed the drift a few years ago.

We spoke through options. Best option is drill out the bolt.

Halfway there for the frame-swingarm part. Waiting on some larger bits to finish the job. Then hopefully it will be frame out, then worry about swingarm. Then engineā€¦.

Nothing like a seized bolt to make the week a bit spicy.

  • Little bit of this and a little tap of that. Bloody hell. Nearly drilled the whole thing to get it free.

  • Solid bloody work man. At least itā€™s come out now. Half the work is done

  • Cripes - I reckon I'd have sacked that off into a skip by now! Good perseverance.

  • You put it back together and sell it as a project ;)

  • Hope that you are in the warm.

Not trying to teach you to suck eggs.
Old trick was to pour pickling vinegar (higher percent citric acid) to attack any corrosion. Also recommend cutting fluid dripped on the drill bit too helps the metal stay cool and cut the bits out.

  • The corrosion was too far gone. When I managed to remove the bushes, there was still bolt stuck to the insides with enough galvanic corrosion that I couldnā€™t rip it off.

Also yes. It was slow drilling, lots of stops, lots of spray-penetrating lubricant to act as cutting fluid and keep everything turning.

  • I need a van ā€¦

  • Handy aren't they.

Am so ahead of the curve.

  • I took my race bike from London to Cadwell park in a Ford Orion saloon car once. We had to take the front seat out and the back wheel and fairings off. I sat behind my mate. Got some funny looks on the A1.

This is a bit more desert ready. 14/50 gearing, Steering damper, big tank, full bash plate and bark busters.

  • @pdlouche good effort and well done for persevering with drilling out that bolt, looks a pig of a job.

@jung looks in mint condition that, when's the first test ride?

  • Tomorrow or Monday. Want to try a couple of gnarlier trails to see if the gearing is OK. Should top out about 75 which is fine for me!

  • @Jung bark busters are great. Took the brunt of the hit

  • Ouch. You selling off the tiger cheap now? šŸ˜¬

  • Ah dude that sucks. Hope itā€™s not too sprained!

  • Pulled a muscle loading it in this morning, but well worth the aggro to do the event.
