I haven’t had to service yet, but known for being user serviceable.

What I like most is they've given it a really steep seat tube angle, you know, to make pedalling uphill easier

compulsory helmets on roads only and not even allowed in cycle lanes
Any mention of a number plate, MOT, and insurance?
-

The moment you have to pedal that ...

No mention of any of the those in the article just the lack of helmet wearing and speeding in a 20mph zone but i guess that would be the for use on the roads. It seems they're treating these the same as if a moped was riding on the pavement or in a cycle lane which isn't allowed. E-scooters mostly get away with pavement and cycle lane use despite not being legal on either. Police turn a blind eye to food delivery E-bikes on pavements despite not being legal but they are coming down harder on these as they are a genuine menace i guess.

Alpkit outlet has the Cane Creek Helm II in coil or air for £699 on eBay, I really rate my Helm I air-spring, tempted to get the Mk II coil just to see what it's like.

Do you require some bullying?

I dunno about serviceable but I just fitted a set of Stamp 1 (the cheapest version) pedals to the Stanton Deliver. They're mentioned up thread 100x110 or something I think.

Do you require some bullying?
Possibly. What do you think I could sell a mint set of Helm MkII Coil for, if I hate them?
Conversely, I have a set of Helm Mk1 Air that are unused since a full service (SKF wiper seals and so on) from Full Factory Suspension - some marks to the decals from undergrowth but overall in very good condition. What do you think the going rate for these would be?

Anyone actually enjoy building bikes and has the time to do it? I have a Kona process in bits under my bed which has been there for 4years cos life’s been too stressful. I’ve not take it to a shop because A money B i have no specific need of occasion to ride it and C I can mechanic myself when i have time. If you are is S London or Kent and you’d like to put this together for me please give me a shout. I’m hoping i’ll grt to ride this summer

Last nights efforts to modernise my other mtb. Dropper post, 1 by, wider bars and stem. Seems to have come together nicely , just need to ride it now ..

New (lower) dropper installed along with those wider Stamp pedals...
MTBing is just continually swapping parts without actually riding, yeah?

Not always
Sometimes you have to service or repair stuff too
-
• #23366
Have you considered gravel riding?
-
• #23367
Service or repair? Get real! I'm in the golf thread, don't you know!

Why do you think this thing has 2.6" tyres. #gravelwide #gravelbro

Not at all sure really. I have a terrible habit of under pricing everything
The Helms are the most coil-like air fork I've tried. I can only imagine what the coil ones are like. I suppose it comes down to if you think you're missing out on something and can find the correct weight spring. I think the Ohlins springs might be compatible and they have a greater range of weights available than Cane Creek
I'd probably get the coil one myself, only I don't require any more than 120mm travel max on my current bike and the coil are 130mm minimum
New bike time for me, I guess

I ordered them, more to see what they're like than any expectation that they'll be better than my air ones (which I've never been unhappy with, other than that very first unsticking they do when you first get on the bike.
I might put the coil forks on the 295 whilst I send the Lyrik in for a service.

I've not experienced that. Have you tried balancing the air pressure and then removing a tiny bit ( less than 5psi ) from the positive chamber, as I found this sat the fork into its travel by a couple of mm and made the initial stroke very supple

I’ll check what I sold my Helm mk1 air fork for on eBay. From memory I think it was about £300ish
I finally got round to fitting the smashpot coil to my Lyrik recently. Only had a couple proper rides on it so far so still not formed a full opinion yet.
But I’d say that the overall difference from the air spring isn’t really as night and day as I thought it would be.
I crashed and fucked my shoulder last time at inners, so it will probably be a couple weeks before I can get more miles on it. -
• #23373
Yeah, I'm actually expecting the difference to be small - but then I have a Lyrik with the B1 damper cap and a Secus, and the aforementioned Helm with it's big negative air chamber, both of which are extremely "coil like".
I kind of like the idea of an 853 hardtail with a coil fork, I admit.
-
• #23374
Just realised you’ve ordered the mk2 coil.
I feel like so far it’s just shown how good the b1 air spring actually is if you put aside the lost travel issue.I can’t lift my hand above my head right now so I’m going to wait for the nicer spring weather before taking the mtb out again.

• #23375
Yeah, MkII coil, and whilst it's on the bike I'll send the Lyrik off to get a service and the shaft changed to a 160mm. I should measure (if I can) where it rides at dynamic sag, as it were, to compare to how it rides afterward.
Thanks. And servicable without special tool I presume?
