Some inner tube between the clamp and light and clamp and rack to give some insulation from vibration.

Don't forget to tuck the head of that cable tie out of the way
-
• #2256
Hmm, we'll see if that actually would make a diff :)
I cut it super flush though. No sharp bits

I suppose it'd take a fair whack to do damage to the inside of the tyre or split it open releasing the foam

I am not sure I understand this. Are you saying there is a part of a paintball gun in there?

Surely the insert wants to be wider than the rim?

Why?

Lotta sharp rocks here

Maybe. I guess I'll find out. I just want slightly lower pressures. Had it bottom out a few times.
This is for a gravel bike, so 38mm tyre only, and compression on table showed it doesn't go all the way down ... Maybe it'll act a bit like a suspension token by taking some of that air volume also. -

I've got some for both mountain bike and gravel wheels, and in both cases they're about 1.5x the width of the rim.

The bolt on stem came out with bonus "spring" during cleanup. Obviously was overtightened at some point and whole stem needs replacement. As a one ride thing, would you thing wingnut with bent bolt would do?

Not super safe but if it feels strong then you will likely be fine. Probably.
If it were me I'd test it by pulling it around with medium-high force. Then if you ride it just stay in the saddle.

It survived a short 20k wet ride on and off road. While I couldn't feel it move or flex, I could feel myself checking the thing almost constantly.
On related note, anybody have some nice gas pipe or nitto ui-12style stem around?

Looks like it’s in a nice spot to scrape out a bit of your knee if you’re not careful ! :,)
Clamping force would prob be improved by a set of spherical washers underneath the wing nut (the ones that come with v and disc brakes sometimes)

Yeah, maybe out of saddle it would run risk of a knee scraper, but its high enough not to worry me too much. I had couple spherical ones, but the hole on them were too big and wing nut flanges were digging into the washer. Maybe with a regular nut instead it would work, but for a life of me I could not find one that is right size today.

Paul 31.8 thumbie adapters for 60 quid per piece? No thank you. A cheap FD clamp, a hacksaw and some elbow grease can do wonders.
