  • Awesome work as allways

  • Great job !! 🤩
It's not stupid to protect the chainring, where does this piece come from that is attached to the chainring ?
How long did you estimate the cranks to be ?
    Well done !

  • Looks so great 👌

  • Wow so amazing!!

  • No more GUSSET cranks

Has she picked a colour yet?

  • Mmm not specifically. She keeps telling purple and blue when I ask her. But I can't really stand purple powder coating. It needs sparkles to work and that's not within my budget. I am going with RAL6025 fern green if they have it. Then I'll buy her some nice purple ano riser bars instead. Either that or purple grips. She can have a purple bike like her mum when it's her forever bike

  • It's a Gusset G-wheel one-piece bmx chainring and chainguard.
Cranks are 90mm that's estimated on what 14" Isla bikes are running and what I thought I could get away with on this +12". Like anything else I do I have no clue if it will be good ☺️

  • And thanks everyone. I am really enjoying this project and can't wait for the finished bike

  • Amazing. Do you keep, or plan to, the small bikes when the rider has outgrown them?

  • Making children > making bicycles

I am afraid we have another member of the Hulsroy Cycles CX Team of the way so no mini bikes will be sold, unless children are sold first

  • Just dropped off some frame at the powder coaters. Mini bike will be RAL 6025. A bit like this I imagine.
I really wanted a slightly more snot green but this will do

  • The younger sibling may not want to settle for a hand-me-down. I'd keep some short tubing just in case...

  • Let's see. Might sell children before this happens

  • Re the cranks.

They're damn pretty! Though looking at the axel, usually bmx cranks are splined so you can align them to each other and to stop any kind of movement when applying power...

I'm guessing these are not splined because crank stripping power is not possible out of a child?

  • Perhaps a single machined key in the spindle lined up with a brazed male key on the arms would work if you do find slippage

Edit: the pinch bolt looks pretty beefy, I reckon it'll be fine

  • Splines are a bit overkill for this but a key was on the table at some point, but I decided it wasn't necessary in the end.

  • Any suggestions for nicely made mini pedals and a purple 25.4 riser og flat bar?

  • I have some nice mini pedals - HT ar 06 I think. Wanna check em out to see if they’re mini enough?

  • Also I’ve got a purple riser bar but it’s flippin huuuge 😂

  • I like Wellgo R146. They're foot shaped and cute

  • They are pretty cute

  • Both good shouts thank you.

@MCamb I am going to have to cut the bars down so the section where stem sits needs to be more narrow. But colour is spot on.

  • If I got here these I wouldn't need new bars i reckon
