About once a year we lose our minds and order food to be delivered. It’s always horrible, on too variable a timescale, in a load of plastic and too expensive.

I don’t understand how people can do that with any regularity

We decided to do a rare delivery order this week. After 45 mins it was just cancelled without reason so I had to cook something after all as we were starving by then. Won't bother again for some time.

Fwiw: I always fetch our takeaways. It solves all the problems listed and encourages us to use local places. Often I order at the start of the bike commute and collect on my way past.

A boarding school the Education Council sent me to in the 70s was essentially a WWII airforce base in Norfolk which had been repurposed, with added sadists. I strongly suspect that the aircrew with a high risk of death had a better time than us inmates.

I agree the prices are eyewatering but for a premium product made by adults getting a living wage I'd say they're in the range. I see many coats of lower quality selling for more because fashion.
