That version is only valid until 31.12.2020. Thinking it may have been an old link, I had a look another look going through the UCI website and it's still the same version.
It might explain why the commissaire stopped him riding it.
I need to get out more -

Not a bad loaner bike...

the publicity from that is a boon(e) for trek

He normally rides Shimano, so switching both bikes and shifters, to SRAM, and still coming third really is quite incredible. He must be really strong, mentally.
What I don't understand is how he was able to ride the European champs plus three rounds of the World Cup on his Ribble frame, only for it to fall foul of the commissaires at the Worlds. If the bike isn't on the UCI list (and @gofasterstipes asked Ribble this week if it was and they claimed it is) how come it wasn't an issue before?

I'm pleased to see Richard Sachs got UCI registered this year https://assets.ctfassets.net/761l7gh5x5an/7jA9krKzzy3lRXPzlm4uyn/79e994612ca5d4912b254ad4297317c2/Liste_des_Mod__les_homologu__s_de_kits_cadre__-_List_of_Approved_Models_of_framesets.pdf

Truly a disaster to my enjoyment of watching the sport
-
• #9185
Why? It'll still be on, just part of the X2O series rather than the World Cup. It sounds like it'll moved to the Kerstperiode too, so you're more likely to see the likes of van der Poel, van Aert and Pidcock racing.

I wholeheartedly recommend watching the men's Superprestige race from Gavere today. Don't think I've seen a cross race quite like that one, the cross equivalent of two boxers going toe to toe and just slugging it out, but with four boxers instead of two.

Thought the tracking drone shots in yesterday's women race were pretty cool, although they've apparently already been banned

For those who missed it, you can see one here:

I agree btw, really interesting way to experience the race. I already knew that Lucinda Brand was fast, but the sense of speed of cornering that those drone shots gave was amazing.

y?

Because a pilot error means a drone to the face of a rider or spectator?
-
• #9192
I imagine the noise of it getting closer and further away whilst you are trying concentrate in your lines is pretty irritating

Imo the shots are great, probably a bit low to work in a busy race though? Seems to me like a sensible choice to start using them more widely though. There's obviously a risk but chances of anything as dramatic as Alaphillipe @ flanders seems low. There are some talented pilots out there, once it becomes "a thing" maybe they could be drawn to it. Can't draft a drone either.

Surely a cx track is "small" enough to warrant a couple of spidercams to be set up over key sections, which would be significantly safer and quieter than drones. By its own nature, most tracks double up on themselves, making this setup even more convenient/effective.
Did they use something similar for Fayetteville? There was a particular part of the descent where the camera could track the riders from above for a good stretch which seemed too much for a fixed camera shot.

By spidercam, do you mean a remote controlled camera on a wire? If so, they are widely used already in cx coverage.

Nice! He's solid. Really hope he keeps it rubber side down and gets some deserved results on and off road
