• I've got a new baby incoming so I wanted to move my record player up high out of the way. I got a really long phono lead, and some connectors to join it to the one fixed into the record player. Now I have terrible feedback and humming. Any ideas why this might be?

  • Did you definitely buy a phono-specific cable? They’re different from a standard RCA interconnect - lower capacitance due to the much lower signal level from a record player. Is your ground wire connected properly too?

  • I obviously bought the first cables I found while in a departmental zoom meeting, they're definitely not phono specific!
The turntable doesn't have a ground wire.

I think I'll just find a place to move the whole stereo, seems like the cheapest option!
