The only solution I can think of is to slide a length of stiff (coathanger?) wire inside it alongside the bulb wires.

Reckon cost hanger will bend, could you fit a metal rod inside?

Will take it apart and have a gander, see what'll fit - thanks!

Anyone got Muji furniture? the open shelves look quite nice in steel and oak
I’ve got quite a lot of the Muji Stainless Steel shelving and some of the Oak Stacking Shelves. It’s okay, and nice to be able to pull it apart and reconfigure at will. I’m currently building a WFH desk in some of it.

Aluminium armature/forming wire is what you need.
model making shop/Amazon sell it. -

What diameter and length do you need? (I have some at work, can check and post).
Amazon also has some if you’re in a rush.

I’m not in London - but would be happy to pay for postage/inconvenience..?
40cm, and I guess 3 or 4mm? Or does that sound silly? Doesn’t seem much in the way of spare room inside.

Speaking of knock off furni in the interior design thread, I have mixed feelings about the whole Eames estate. I love that shit. I know it is obvious but it just fits in so well in California. But Herman Miller's pricing is quite frankly laughable for some of this stuff.
I know some people call Modernica stuff 'replica', but in reality, the shell chairs are more in-line with the originals from the 50s than HM's- I mean, they're literally made using the original molds and fiberglass recipes that were used up until Herman Miller started producing them in Michigan.Modernica's storage units are a bit more of a rip-off.... but, unlike Herman Miller's storage units, they're still customisable and are somewhat affordable - the HM are just so, so expensive and if you don't like the stock configurations, tough shit.
So anyway, I picked up this Modernica 'Case Study' (lol) storage unit. Got it for $190 which I was really pleased with - I almost ordered a brand new one from Modernica for almost $500 the other day, and the HM version is $795... So yeah, this was a bargain. Buying furniture on Instagram is so great.
I then went to the Modernica store and ordered two different coloured fiberglass panels for it so I can mix things up when I feel like it. This one was made before they made fiberglass panels, and I really like how visible the fiberglass strands are in the Modernica panels and chairs.
With all of that said, I did buy an Eames/Herman Miller LTR last week as it was on sale and there's no equivalent... should have that next week.

I have some battered vintage (60s/70s) wooden Ercol furniture. It's all functional but the joints are loosening so I'd like to get it repaired/restored. Can anyone recommend someone, ideally North/East London area? It's got sentimental value so I do want it done properly/sympathetically.

Corwell or The Andrews Partnership, although neither are in London. I bought a chair from TAP, as they also do sales and it looked amazing considering it was manufactured in 1978.

Thank you - I've contacted them both. Fingers crossed!

Anyone got a Swyft sofa? I’ve recently bought one (model 01) and I just cannot get comfortable on it at all. Hurts my lower back. The base is far too wide, and the back too low.
Looks lovely though… but ultimately when you’re spending a grand on a sofa you expect to be able to sit on it as well.
I’ve thrown away the boxes which means I’m ineligible for the 100 day no quibble refund, but I guess they’ll still take it back but just charge me for transport. -

We bought one last year, a 2 seater model 02. We had a similar issue with the back being too short and also found that as the back cushions weren't attached you found yourself sitting on top of them sometimes rather than against them. Looked great in the room thou, but as you say I wanted more for £1200.
We kept the boxes folded up in the hallway (for two months!) so made use of the return policy and got a full refund. Instead bought a 400 quid ikea one which fits the small space better and seems to do the job in terms of comfort.

there seems to be a trade off with seating, the better they look the more expensive they are and equally increase in discomfort.
we have two low back sofas, they look great but only comfortable if laying down, sitting does nothing much for comfort

This was our experience as well, custom sofa though.
Sold it on a year after, have been happy with Ektorp sofa and loveseat since. -

I had a desede sofa up until recently which was low back but was very comfy. That sucker was good money but saw it more as an investment, therefore justified. In the same way that more bikes are justified in one way or another

We bought a HAY mags and I think its pretty comfy, but I wish I'd bought a Bo Concept Cenova instead, way comfier.

Probably outs me as a basic bitch and against the spirit of the thread, but our DFS French Connection sofas were gvfm, comfortable, and (imo) nice enough to look at.
The pain of sofa shopping and prospect of them being fucked up by future children were heavy buying factors tho.

How can a sofa with a low back ever be comfortable?
-
• #1050
We've got an 04 (sofa bed) and love it, we aren't using it in their configuration however, as with the deep back cushions it makes the seat a little narrow.
I asked them to send me another side cushion and we put those at the back and the use back cushions on the arms.
Our door threshold is so tight we can't get anything else in the house that is similar size wise.

Is it possible to give extra rigidity to this gooseneck tubing (is there a better word?) - like many things in life age has made it go a bit droopy.
