  • Thanks! Found using the slide table really handy to do the set up for getting the position right for the struts. The cage mounts on the fork were put in by a friend years ago and let's just say that he might have been in a rush, made getting the angles a little tricky.

  • You also chose a hard way to mount the rack to the forks. A flat piece of steel (like plate style dropouts) with a hole in it would have made it easier to bent and adjust. But the tube solution does look cool

  • Yeah, I had thought of that but also thought it might exaggerate the misaligned mounts when looking down at the rack.
Definitely would have been easier though.

  • Really lovely

  • Finally rideable. Definitely a few things to fix up but happy to turn the pedals at last.

  • I love the elegance of the rear rack!

  • Cheers! First rear rack that I've made and it came together ok.
It just survived a 1500km bikepacking trip down the south island of NZ without any problems, so happy about that.

  • Great thread!

  • Have you blued the rear rack? Looks great. What did you do it with, out of interest, heat or chemical?

  • Lovely thread. I like the non-totally functional way you build racks
