Analog film photography and cameras

I have this exciting role of film for free if anyone wants to pick it up from Stoke Newington. I believe it's what used to go in cameras before digital made everything better.

The M6 has been my grail camera for almost ten years, but I've first never been able to afford one and then never found the "big letter" version * in good enough condition. This arrived on eBay just as I got an unexpected bonus at work. It felt like fate.

* Normally M6s have "LEICA M6" in the top-left hand corner and it looks clumsy to me. I much prefer the styling of the M7/8/9, so always hunted for one of the few thousand M6s that had that layout.

Ha, yeah, I couldn't swing that yet. The Voigtlander lenses have such a good rep that I felt I could grin and bear/bare (?) it. For now.

I think that is a different thing ... the ones with "Leitz" in the red dot are the Waltzer ones and more collectible, the ones with "Leica" were built in Solm and are newer/slightly improved but less collectible. This is a later one (1991) but with the different nameplate.

It is a bloody minefield!

This looks in great condition! I'm keeping an eye for a .58 view finder but they are getting so expensive. Maybe one day

Ah so you're the one who beat me to it haha. I was so gutted after i decided to sleep on it and next day it was gone. Glad it went to someone here though. #silverlinings etc

I did go back and forth a little on the viewfinder, but I don't really shoot 28mm or wider that much, and that is the focal length of the iPhone anyway.

@lazysuperhero Ah, I'm sorry not sorry. I actually went to the dealer through his website, as I wanted to get the lens too ... he was super and I negotiated a (small) discount when buying everything together. Highly recommend him, everything came quickly and well packaged, with a branded lens ouch and cleaning cloth too.

Also the grading system on that site ... Excellent ++ is "some signs of use". What is like new, "Excellent ++++++"?

Ahh amazing thanks for the tip. I was also considering an MP that was hanging around eBay. But i think i prefer the M6

I finally bought that after having the voigtlander and tbh its sharp but not that much better if im honest. I know im a pure heathen for saying that!

i know! Makes zero diff. IMO Jupiter 8 is GOAT for Leica for the look.

It's a new one-off film that they managed to develop with another (now busted) company so they are selling this first batch to put this money back in to R&D so they can hopefully get a new film by 4 years time.

I was advised about not going for a ttl model a while back due to the replacement parts.

My m6 is off for a little refurbishment shortly, it seems to be skipping the last few frames on each roll.
