You might be best looking for a cyclo-cross frame from the 80s

One might think so, but from my experience clearance isn't much better compared to race bikes and headtube tends to be shorter.
From what I've read and experienced my best chance would be a touring frame from the 70s - problem is: how to tell from race bike to touring bike, etc. from looking at pictures online. Hence this wanted add, to maybe get some help and ideas...

So far, I got a '78 Raleigh Record Ace today for a few bucks. I'll see where I can go from there :)
Hi there!
I am kind of desperatly looking for a suitable frame for this damn idea I have in my mind for some years: a Fixed Gear Scorcher/Country Bike like the Ibis Scorcher from bitd.
My current tries are those attachted. I really love the style of the Gazelle unfortunately its too big (64 ST) and has only room for 32mm. The Kona will take wider tires of course but I am not so happy with the style of the vintage MTB after all.
So what I am looking for is a lugged (at least partially) steel frame with room for at least 700*38 or 650b*42 tires, a longish headtube and up to 58cm/58cm ST/TT.
Maybe you have any idea or actually a matching frame for sale.
Best wishes,
Nora
