Depending on the boat some marinas will store your boat on shore and put it in the water when you need it, thats what we used for a diving rib in Portland marina.
So you wouldnt need a trailer there, but the cheaper marina up the road would just be a space to store your boat on a trailer and you'd need to put you boat in and out of the water.
Getting a permanent berthing would be more spendy and then probably mean more maintenance in the long run.
