Just picked up The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester to fill my Expanse hole.

this was good, plus short too, which for me these days is half the charm

I really liked that years ago. Read it before it was renamed. Called 'Tiger Tiger!' originally

Never felt comfortable with the way the rape is handled in that book.

It's almost worth finishing just for how shit the ending is.

Thought I’d give this a try.

Looking forward to getting stuck into this one

Looks scary

That's been on my to read list for ages, but have yet to see it in a charity shop. Maybe it's so scary that people burn their copies.

Just finished 'Wool' by Hugh Howey
Took me a little while to get into it but then I couldn't put it down. Now a quarter of the way through 'I know why the caged bird sings' by Maya Angelou
The first (of many, I understand) horrific thing has just happened. -

I quite enjoyed Wool when I read it years ago. I thought it was a good premise but terribly written. The second book in the series is pretty shit from what I remember though.

Just finished 'Wool' by Hugh Howey
I read this but got a bit confused by all the various books and omnibuses and managed to miss a book out in the middle. Enjoyed it but made for a more confusing read than it should have done.

I was in a trendy book store in the East Village back in 2001, when the impossibly cool girl working there thrust House of Leaves at me saying "This will freak your shit out"
And she was right.
I know two people who have had to quit reading it part of the way through.
Enjoy!

All my books have been in storage for about 14 months after a house move (two house moves if you want to be pedantic). Have finally got the first bookcase up in the new house and for a chance to unbox some of the little buggers. Like being reunited with old friends. In some cases like being reunited with old friends who you immediately think “my god, why did I ever hang out with you, you are awful”, but in the main it is great to have them out again.
Lovely books.

Well, it was really two house moves, wasn't it? Wasn't it? :)
So good to have things accessible again.

Is there a phrase for describing the book version of a chick flick? If there is I’m reading it. It’s very easy to read and strangely difficult to put down.

I'm reading The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien, which I found on my bookshelves but couldn't account for. I think it came from a recommendation on here.
I can't say what I make of it at the moment because I don't know what's happening.

Hahahaha any book written by Sophie Kinsella is a crime against the environment.
People eat that shit up.
I’ve got the ghost factory up next
I have still to finish it.
I liked RP1, and was keen to read 2, but only got about 50% in before being distracted by pretty much anything to not carry on reading.
