    If you don't tax gifts then it allows lots of loopholes. A diamond engagement ring in the UK would have a big VAT bill. Should people with the time and money to do it be able to fly to somewhere without tax on diamond rings and buy it there and then import it without paying tax?

    That's apparently the 2-4 day courier rate with Australia Post. You could send a pack of Tim Tams via Economy Air, taking about a month, for 'only' $23.

    Or Amazon will deliver a pack on Monday for 7 quid. Apparently they are $3 usually? Penguins are close enough for me.
