The cushion case and lug length minimises the size. The sandwich dial is a simple but effective way to make it look more interesting and quality. The numerals are nicely shaped.
I get the history is made up, but then most watch marketing pretty much as tenuous.
Imo Panerai are a perfect eg of a watch that works much better irl than the Internet backlash would have you believe.
They wear their size well and look really nice on a wrist in the flesh.
Dare I say it, the opposite of something like a batman GMT or quite a few Tudors.
