I’ve been looking into BOXT lately, any reason for this?

We have those, it’s more of a concertina than a roller blind. Blackout up stairs and opaque downstairs. The downstairs ones also can open from the bottom.
Much prefer them to the plantation shutters every second house seems to have and they allow privacy with a decent amount of light in by being put 3/4s up. -

MDF is possibly better than wood for Venetian blinds in an older house. It’s more stable in the harsh conditions of a window (sun, radiators, condensation, draughts) etc. And if painted you can’t really tell the difference.
Real wood seems to be fine in a modern efficient home with double glazing though.

Mad to see my family house up for sale as it now looks. Moved into it in 1988. Things they have done since makes me sad. So many spaces seems to have no reason to them

I feel your pain. I think that part of Kelross Road is one of the most beautiful streets in London. I cycle along there a lot but have never noticed that conversion. A total miss.

Re ceiling soundproofing… been there got the t shirt etc. even a fully separated ceiling attached to your walls instead of the joists will have little to no effect on impact/structural sound. So don’t waste your money. Stopping the noise at source with thick underlay and carpets is the only hope

I love Kelross Road. If money was no object I would live round there.

Beautiful house (or was). The doctor's waiting room at the front of the ground floor is a bit odd. Maybe I'm just showing my prole credentials by not understanding what you would do in a living room with no TV.

"what do you point the furniture at?"

Holy cow.

Bask in your and your partners own smugness I’d assume.
-

I quite like some of it but I'm mostly confused why the only proper shower would be in the basement when your master bedroom is in the attic.
-
• #51265
i like it, apart from the blue fireplace obviously.
i’m glad people buy places and mould them to suit themselves not the sentiment of the previous owner, we would all be living in some right horrors if we worried about what somebody with no agency in the property thought.

Also you have to do stairs if you want a slash in the night?

sink.

I'm inclined to agree.
We never really own a house. It's your home for a little while whilst you look after it until the next person buys it. And so on.
3m quid though. I'd be interested to know (and hope it isn't an impertinent question) what it was worth when it left simpsons family ?

I don't have a TV. I guess we just spend a lot of time staring at our phones...

They’re probably sat there wondering where all their stuff is.

• #51272
Quite.

Divorce I bet.

something slatted... is more practical.
Probably a stupid question, but how come? Because you can part close them to control light throughout the day?
-

Yeah exactly, I have pals who were smug about not having a TV and just watched everything on their Laptop.
Shit experience.
Just admit you want Netflix and buy a Serif, which is what they did (well, not a Serif).
Curtains aren't that good at stopping people seeing in whilst letting light in though.
Similarly, carpets aren't that good when many things are spilt on them.
