Price advice please. Basso, Columbus SL - full bike.

Posted on
  • Can I have some advice on a reasonable selling price for this please?

It is a Basso Columbus SL, a 58.

    Campagnolo wheels, groupset, Charge saddle.

I have not used it for 3 years so it is a bit dusty, but is in good shape with new tyres and handlebars. Was serviced less than 500 miles ago.

Would be pick up only from North East London / Essex border.

  • depends how much people will pay for a basso, lots of folks love an old italian steel road frame but its a niche market so depends, I would say ball park between 500-900 quid depending on where and when you sell it. The full matching peroid correct campag will really help with the price, wheels match too.

  • Give that a clean and a service and you'd get around 600 for that I'd suspect.

    Looks very nice, Fyi.

  • Thanks. I'll give it a clean. If I try and service it I will only get scrap value 🙂

  • I’m a big Basso fan, but I’d say 3-400 in all honesty

  • Have to agree with previous comment, that’s about 300-350. Good frames but they just don’t get a lot of interest. I auctioned a similar frame recently, same condition etc, it got masses of watchers, but only 1 bid for 70 quid

  • I have a few Basso's and there is a decent following of them. However, like me, most buyers will only pay a decent price if the bike is well presented and in nice condition. The wheels are not period and the brakes are from a later 9/10 speed groupset. The chainset and gears appear to be from 1990's Chorus 8 speed groupset. I would split it for the frame and sell the parts separately. If the chrome is ok under the crap on chainstay you might get £200-£250 for the frame on a good day. The parts may yield a similar amount.

  • Unless it can be show otherwise (flat edge etc), I'd imagine the wheels are at the end of their life given the rather 'unkempt', state of the bike. Brake tracks are likely well worn. Chainrings look decidedly worn-out too (or the big ring does at least).

Nice bike nonetheless. Be interesting to see it cleaned-up...
