It was great, but much reduced, so you weren't missing out. Capacity was definitely restricted, and there was loads of space. And I've never seen so many people wearing masks, it was very refreshing to see.
But yeah, next year see ya there. We'll have to do an Arkham Horror scenario.

Went to Tanuki Gaming last night in Deptford and was really impressed. £5 per person for three hours and all the games looked to be in great condition and there was a wide range available. Can get food and drink from Badger Badger, the attached bar next door which has a good selection of drinks and the food was really tasty too. Will definitely be heading back again.

Escape the Dark Castle, in a large tent, in a massive storm, in the middle of nowhere with no electrics and a mass of cider. Atmosphere!

How was it? I was tempted to get that to play with my current games crew

It’s a good simple game, hits the nostalgia function, easy enough for my 9 year old to tell me the rules and has agency in the decision making.
I bought it purely on the nostalgia pull of the art tho

i've been tempted. prefer the theme of castle to the sci-fi of sector. i had a £1 kickstarter pledge for the campaign where you can get everything including the fancy collectors box to store everything.
as a completionist though it became an expensive purchase at a time i was starting to pull in the old purse strings so i passed.

I meant to say in here, a couple of weeks back I played The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine with a couple of mates. It's actually the second time we'd played it, but the first time we ran out of time after a couple of rounds and didn't manage to get in to it really.
This time we got stuck in a bit more and got to some of the more complex stages of the game. Lots of fun! It's deceptively simple but gets hard very quickly. The space sci fi theme feels very bolted-on - we kind of ignored it to be honest - but the gameplay is a great balance between being super infuriating and really satisfying. Would recommend.

Do not have a hugely wide experience, but Everdell is the best game I've ever played. I've bought expansion packs. It's really great. I appreciate 1 game isn't a list, but I just haven't played anything else that really compares...

Keyforge
such a shame they fucked it up. in case you hadn't heard they lost the algorithm used to generate decks and now have no way of making new ones so the entire game is now out of print until they release keyforge 2.0 (remains to be seen) and likely will be no compatibility between the two.
without support from FFG for a whole year now it's killed the keyforge community dead so I have a few hundred decks that are basically worthless now.

How is that even possible? It sounds like a proper gutting shame if you love that game.

I had not heard that. What a massive fuckup.

Not even a consideration for me this year, as I can't afford it. Shame as it was a blast last time we hung out up there.
Their approach to everyone's safety with the "we won't be enforcing any safety measures" followed by the swift 110 degree (partial turnaround, ha) to "we might do a couple of safety measures" was enough to deter anyone from my social gaming group down here. I get the gov basically are forcing them into a tough spot but something like that is always going to be high-risk imho given the interaction elements are the key attractor to the event.
hopefully they can ride out this year and be financially able to stay running and get back to something a bit more normal next year
