  • Filter (chemex) coffee bloom times - does it make much of a difference? Nearly all recipes I've seen suggest a 30 second bloom before pouring the rest of the water over the grounds, but I'm often still seeing lots of bubbles emerging from the grounds after 30 seconds. Should I be allowing longer if the grounds still appear to be degassing?

Personally, I'd say this is the main point. It doesn't really make sense to have a fixed bloom time to cover all beans and grind sizes IMO (though I get why recipes would want to include a figure). I'd wait for the coffee to settle before continuing.
