I would say that the tax is identical between a van and a pick up, so its not a pick up specific tax break.
A lot of traders are getting them because they can use them during the week for work, then at the weekend for a family car, so means they don't have to run another car.
Also currently it is almost impossible to get a new van as well.

Yeah - if you compare the benefit in kind rates on these with equiv family cars, they're far more attractive.

For example in France, a double cab is treated similarly to a car for taxation purposes (I think some, but not all are here) whereas a single cab is treated as a commercial vehicle.
we have a small electrical business on our road, which for some reason just have bought 3 of these ford rangers as company cars. can see why now if theres a tax break. there is one currently double parked blocking in 3 cars.
