Why 40mph? I have to travel to get stuff from 40 odd miles away from specialist retailers, its still a genuine use of it?

40mph was a bit flippant, but some commercial vehicles are limited to 60, so something like that could be possible.

Anything to make them look a bit slow and impotent to someone buying it as a symbol of their power and virility.

I would be in favour of a speed limit on all commerical vehicles, so would be on board with a limit of 60mph on all pickups and vans, makes sense to me.
