Nah it's totally fine for centre of town. I cycle 5 days a week to work so any argument for not enough power or whatever is moot.
My last bike was a 750 and it spent 6 months having never reached 3rd gear.

Not arguing with you, from my experience of having a 50 in zone 1-2 and it was fine sticking to 30 roads. But anything more than that may be difficult. So derestricting is better IMO.
