I know i've posted this good boy in here before, but we're off to spend a few days with Da Vinci the rescue dog at the weekend and I'm not ashamed to say that I <3 him.
He's such a serious working dog, until he's not. There is nothing he likes more than to run around a glacier with one of your gloves in his mouth while his handler tells him off :D

Thought I'd jinxed it by saying how well first feeding went. he was acting hungry and i had defrosted a spare pack for overlap so i put out some more just now. only thing was I'd grabbed a different flavour by mistake...
little fucker, took a sniff and walked away. tried again with a pinch of parmesan just to get him to lick it instead of smelling. he licked the parmesan off and then in the most unintentionally hilarious way he walked away a few steps, stopped, looked back at the dish, walked back, took a lick, then walked away, stopped, looked back etc etc no less than about 8 times, then my gf and I had our backs turned for maybe 2 seconds and all of a sudden the dish was empty again. either he's figured out how to hide it behind the washing machine or we're maybe getting somewhere.

I will live my dog owning dreams through your adventure. Well I do from this thread anyway. Good luck on finding the right one đź‘Ťđź‘Ť

we just came home with a dog from battersea: she’s incredibly sweet and exactly how i imagined in terms of size shape etc. wife is freaked out though at how excited the dog gets when she sees squirrels and cats, pulls in the lead and barks, this may also extend to ducks. wife wondering if this means she’ll ever be ok off lead. i’m more relaxed but don’t know what to say to wife to make her feel better. and of course might be deluding myself about it. it’s only day one tho

Beautiful dog. Do you know what she is?
Certainly looks to have some terrier in her. They certainly like chasing squirrels.
I’m guessing from the grey around her muzzle she’s not a youngster, but you can still have some success working on her recall if you start straight away.

Congratulations! And what a handsome face.
There are places you can rent a secure field to do training around London.
They’re good for “” reactive dogs “” -

Goofy dog check-in
Just back from a productive reactivity session with a pal and their dog in the park

How much do they charge for a bag of squirrels?

hi thanks everyone- she’s 7.5 so nearly officially senior. we were on the battersea waiting list for a full two years. second night tonight, hopefully manage to get her to relax and stay in her bed tonight. she is 100% tramp/mongrel but with distinct staffie and a distant echo of german shepard? i wondered about some sort of lurcher too

I thought Staffy - there’s definitely a hint of my dad’s now departed Ella about her.
How does she seem with other dogs?
My advice with a rescue would be to take things really slowly, even if the dog seems comfortable.

Just keep the tally of dead animals private from the wife.

Depends if you want them to be running or static.
In all seriousness- if you don’t have a safe place to build recall without distractions then those places are great.
That being said, we’d only ever gotten round to booking it. -

This idiot is on lead only as he will chase and play a bit too rough for most other dogs/wildlife. Secure fields are a great idea though (just make sure they are actually secure...)

Ours eats squirrels, though he may finally be getting a bit long in the tooth. His recall is good fortunately so he will begrudgingly come back. Also, possums, cats, deer, coyote and (ONCE) a baby skunk. That went exactly how you might imagine….

Our boys both have upset stomachs at the moment, but are eating and drinking a little. Maybe helped by the fact they're both young (nearly 2), but I am keeping an eye on them based on the news something is going round.

The fluff. She nearly got picked up by a massive sighthound earlier. Pretty sure it thought she was a rabbit or something
