I've never noticed them get any harder to clip in - only brand new cleats seem to have more resistance. The shoes I'm using now are so worn there's probably an extra couple of mm movement in all directions. Lube would do nothing. It's only a matter of time before the springs snap. If I was proactive I'd change the cleat body to a newer one before this happens. IF...
The old version or the new version?
I used to use White Line Teflon but now I just don't bother lubing cleats. I need someone to measure wear and tell me I've been a bad boy and might bother again.
