Seiko 5 is a nice sports watch, no roman numerals but clear markers. Automatic movement if that matters at all. Loads of different variations but this one looks a safe bet:

A little more formal, something from Tissot. Roman numerals and quartz movement:

Thanks for those suggestions. I think the Tissot is closer to what they’d like, the Seiko looks a bit modern and they prefer older/vintage styles.
