Amazing - I’ve wondered for a while if anyone has tried to get data on what happens to a surfer wiping out in xxxl surf - like -how deep - for how long - no. of body rotations - time submerged - blood o2 - heart rate - how far you get dragged down the line etc.
Anything over should high beachie and it’s a hard pass from me now - I got into some bother in big stormy surf last year and it was not fun.

Taking first tentative looks at buying a boat with my old man.
Wonder if someone in here can explain me a few things,
Marina berthing v pier berthing - what's the diff?
Can you store a boat in the water year round or is a trailer (and vehicle capable of pulling it) pretty much a necessity?

Depending on the boat some marinas will store your boat on shore and put it in the water when you need it, thats what we used for a diving rib in Portland marina.
So you wouldnt need a trailer there, but the cheaper marina up the road would just be a space to store your boat on a trailer and you'd need to put you boat in and out of the water.
Getting a permanent berthing would be more spendy and then probably mean more maintenance in the long run. -

And higher insurance if you keep it in the water over winter.

Measuring waves isn't easy when they come in an infinite variety of forms. Safe to say a 100ft wave is going to be ridden soon though.

I have enjoyed a couple of sailing trips this past week (day excursions) in Barbados with snorkel swimming and diving. I reckon next time I’m in this part of the world, 7 day charter Grenada-St Vincent-Grenada with my daughters

Cross post: My 3 yo cannot swim and has speech and language delay so won’t understand instructions or boundaries. My dad has a swimming pool in his garden.
What’s the best life vest (level or anything specific) I should be looking for? -

Despite living in or around Bath all of my life and also canoeing/kayaking for most of that, I have always avoided paddling through Bath because I prefer peace an quiet. Did it today and really enjoyed it, perfect day was funny trying to avoid loads of pissed/stoned groups around a boating station (who were having a great laugh but couldn't maneuver their craft for shit!!!).

Late reply, but I think it’s based on the child’s weight. That’s the way I’ve done it at the local pool and out on boats.
