  • Oh good people

Any one do breakdown cover? Any recommendations?

  • Last year I paid a small fortune to join the AA just to get home after discovering my fuel level sender was faulty. I'd be tempted to have some local recovery firms to hand as seemed a lot cheaper from memory. Granted maybe not as convenient if touring or going abroad etc.

  • I just use autoaid, it is the insurance type of cover rather than the aa rac we have actual vans model. I am covered for any vehicle I use and this includes the bike.
Trouble with bikes, when i last used a recovery service, years back, is that you end up waiting ages for someone who can actually physically lift the bike even if it is the AA as they are all geared for cars.(AA man tried to get me to load the bike on his van and then dented the fuel tank loading it).

  • I'd also have a look at bank accounts.

Eg nationwide flex plus gives you personal breakdown cover - ie for you whatever vehicle, rather than a specific vehicle. It's now £13 p/m with no meaningful savings account so not as vfm as it used to be, but depending on your lifestyle that sort of thing might work out better.
