He was on £300k a week though, right? That's £25m+ over the remainder of his contract. If he wasn't going to play then it's better to get that off your books.

Clearly had his ear turned by Barcelona earlier in the year to act up and get his contract cancelled.

That or he's a bit of a dick and Arteta is following through on what he said when he took ont he job. Ozil was sent packing, Auba too.

Lined up nicely for getting fucked over by the new COVID regs too!
