Is this for reasons of aesthetic or function? I'm considering a walty frame but the choices and options when it comes to tubing is pretty overwhelming!

Both. I wanted it stiff as hell from the bottom bracket to axle but also I prefer the look of wide chainstays.

There are a lot of options. I knew what I wanted but I would guess that you could go to them with a geometry, explain your weight and goals for riding it and let them choose tube options.
