• Heart meltingly cute.

  • Cheers! She knows how to work it too, our local pub has no shortage of woofers but she manages to get all the biscuits and all the cuddles!

Was sorry to read about your loss - must have been awful, any news on the new pup?

  • Thanks- its still pretty unreal, tbh.

New pup is here, and is unrelentingly cute.
Also- genuinely forgot how exhausting it is!

  • This looks like you caught the pup in a brief quiet moment. I sympathise with the CRAZY but am sure it's 200% worth it :)

  • Extremely cute!

  • Just got woken up by this.

  • Such good eyebrows, fitting really.

  • Thankfully Benny has stopped waking me up by gently pressing his nose onto mine. Used to startle the absolute shit out of me. now he gently gruffs with slowly increasing volume until he wakes me up.

  • Crumpet prefers to just stamp all over me/my girlfriend/the cat if she wants something. In hindsight, letting our now 30kg+ dog on the bed when she was a puppy was a huge mistake.

  • One of our friends has a cockerpoo who will actually growl and snap at them if they disturb it by rolling over at night. They're also too scared to stop it sleeping in bed with them because "its not fair to change his routine".

  • I was disappointed that Scotty hadn't done his usual prewarming of my side of the bed last night, he still knows to get off and stay off when I come up and look at him though. Doesn't wake us up either unless he needs to go outside.

  • Finally moved into the office.
    I don’t know who’s more tired.
This music is bizarrely effective, and minimally annoying when working.

  • Our puppy has been crated over night since he came to live with us.
Will not be changing that ever.

  • This is a very familiar situation! Ours (miniature poodle) goes to the groomers looking like just like Mavis and often within about ten minutes I get the call of shame that he's got matted and he comes back looking like a totally different, much smaller, really chirpy looking dog :)

We can't brush him at home - if he sees a brush he runs out the room and we have to chase him around the house

  • Yes I used this overnight with the puppy. It chilled him out in a matter of seconds. WHAT ARE THEY HEARING?

  • psyching ourselves up for round 2 of try to get benny to eat raw food.

32 (individual 250g) packs of frozen raw food just gone in the freezer. need a day or two for first pack to defrost in fridge so will be reducing his food today/tomorrow to build up an appetite then feed him in afternoon on thursday and see how it goes...

  • That reminds me. We have a literal fuck-tonne of raw food, and probably won't feed Dora raw as she's perfectly fine on current kibble, and it makes my wife happier to stick with that.
So if anyone wants to come pick it up, PM me.

  • From street dog to bed hog.

  • Poor Mars has had gastro issues for just shy of a week now. Following medication I thought he was picking up but he went back to getting me up a couple of times last night.

I’m sure it’s just because I’m half looking out for it, but there appears to be A LOT of evidence of dogs with similar issues on the streets of Hackney at the moment. Vet was also saying Mars was the 6th Gastro case he’d seen that day last week which was pretty out of the ordinary. Not really sure what you can do to avoid it as an owner but does appear to be rife

  • A friend of mine is a member of all sorts of various dog training / behaviour groups & posted something recently on fb about some mystery illness that's been doing the rounds across several areas in England, might be worth a call to the v e t to see if they've noticed anything in the area.

  • Yep, that's it exactly - despite having various brushes / combs / stripping tools, they're all useless if you can't catch her in the first place!

She went all quiet after her haircut for a couple of days, like she was self-conscious... maybe it was the fact me & my daughter stood laughing at her for a good 5 minutes in the groomers (then she joined in too) before we could compose ourselves enough walk down the street to the house, who knows... can't see from the photo but she's got quite a long neck - she looked like an Alpaca when we picked her up

  • Bed chat: Daisy is an absolute nightmare through the night, can't decide if she wants in the bed or on top of it and happily changes as she pleases through the night. Current tactic is me sleeping on the settee so she gets used to being downstairs overnight, increasing crate time gradually but overnight still feels like a big leap

  • Have you tried the reverse?
Crate in the bedroom 3- 7 nights by the bed.
    X nights in the corner.
X nights just out the door.
X nights in the nearest room. (Chuck a well worn t shirt in).
Then move to final position. (T-shirt trick again)
If there’s a change in behaviour- go back a step and lengthen it.

(So say most of the guide books I rate anyhow).

With C we just went cold turkey on night 1.
D we’re trying the above. First night was a mess, last two have been good from 11-5:00. (Which is near enough our normal pattern anyway).

  • A few dogs in Crystal Palace Park have had similar issues! Seems to be doing the rounds. I'm not sure what you can do to avoid it.

  • Yeah we spoke to a behaviourist about it and he suggested similar - just struggling a little bit with tiny house and massive crate/dog!
We tried having her on a tie-out and able to sleep next to the bed but not on it but didn't like having her on lead overnight even if she could move around. Felt like restricting her while it's not her "den" in the way the crate is wasn't great
