There will be a builder (builders) they recommend and regularly work with. Architect won't have in-house heavy construction capability.
They literally do, they did out place and not only do they have their own in-house builders the architects are makers too, which may be part of the problem - an inability to delegate/trust others.

Sounds like fingers in too many pies, to me.
this is probably true, It's hard to wear may hats. And if you want project management, don't ask an architect :)
