As a reverse of other people I don’t methodically count calories. I know roughly the calorific content of some foods/snacks/meals and tend to eat similar meals during the week. I find calories counting takes a lot of the joy out and don’t find it healthy (for me!).
If you’re running that often I’d suggest changing the type of running you’re doing up. Maybe chuck in some hill work, intervals etc also a weekly long slow run. Mixing it up will help work in the right zones

Think I'll try keeping up with calorie counting for the next month and see how it goes. it will help me get a grasp on my eating habits and the calories that hide away.
@Tenderloin have started some up hill runs this last week.
Thanks for all the advice people 👍

Enjoying cheat day breakfast at the moment.
Will be dropping 80 calories from my daily target tomorrow to account for the weght drop, also taking measurements and photos (not for you filthy perverts though).

Photos are such a good idea, little painful to begin with but really help add another level of motivation!

8/1 (started later bc holiday) - 120kg
30/1 - 116.2kgHappy with progress, though had 4 days this week where the scale was exactly the same which gave me a bit of a mental wobble but just had to trust the process.
Having my first proper off diet day this coming week for my birthday, going to try not to think about it too much and also try not to go too off the handle and eat everything (I think my last birthday I ate 4 crosstown donuts, trying not to repeat that).

88.8kg this morning so a marginal drop despite having a week off the running (mainly for the knees) and a couple of nights on the booze (nothing too crazy) so I’m pretty happy. I’ve started batch cooking lunch to take in to work which has felt like it’s made a big difference to me and my wallet.
In reality I started this process in the summer after the Euros finished and I was essentially a bloated alcoholic surviving on strongbow and takeaways. I saw the major weight loss in the first two months and it’s been pretty steady since. It’s only been in the last month that I’ve been weighing myself so I’ve no idea exactly what I’ve lost. But I feel good and very motivated to push on to hopefully under 85kg.

Last day of the month.
Surprising morning weigh in (86kg) although not too surprising because weigh ins seem like an absolute free for all.The levels might seem low, I ride almost every day and several significant rides a week and I am not going to put 5000 calories in me on those days. I'll occasionally goto 2500 but more often that not upto 2000 from the 1500 goal. Feels fine.
The app has been great for me, looking forward to popping it on "maintain" soo and seeing how that works.

Shocker of a week for me - lots of stress so gave myself the mental space to not think about food. Back on it today, inspiring to see what's possible with consistency and discipline.

Wild weekend. Managed to keep to calorie limit on Friday despite a trip to the chippy. Certainly went over on Saturday with pizza, cake and unneccessary fake-BLT in the evening. Doubt the 40km or so cruising around on the bike did much for it even with the massive headwinds. Then went on to graze my way round yesterday's audax. Pies, butties, wraps, crumpets, stroopwafels, the lot!
Was down to 85.6kg on Thursday, 86.6 this morning. Missed the usual Sunday weigh in. Expect things will be back down a bit tomorrow.
Well done to everyone so far and good luck this week!
Edit: did the math, just shy of 5000 calories consumed yesterday. Yikes.

Look at the month-on-month comparison. Week-on-week is almost as useless as day-on-day.
You're doing fine!

Thanks both. I've been wondering today if I'd be better off weighing myself monthly, instead of weekly
Hopefully less frequent checks wouldn't lead to even bigger disappointments :-D

1/1: 72.0
29/1: 70.7
GW: 60.0About one month in and only lost 1kg. Been doing a shed load of cardio too. Think I need to work harder on my eating. Thought i'd been doing pretty well this month too! Not up to calorie counting so will just have to work harder on what I stuff in my pie hole. With dry Jan coming to an end, it going to get tricky.
Some screenshots from the smart scale:
Saying i've lost about a kg in fat which is pretty good. But for the amount of effort. Sheesh!

Doing lots of cardio is great. Though for weight loss diet is king.
You need to jog about 6 hours in a week to have the same calorie deficit as eating 500 calories less a day. And that deficit loses you approx 400g a week.
The problem with cardio is it feels like it should be having a better weight impact than it actually does.
Unfortunately our bodies are pretty efficient and fat stores loads of energy. -

This sounds bonkers but actually lines up pretty closely with me (6-8 hours per week).
For Feb:
Going two meals a day.
And quitting bread Mon-Fri -

Probably worth noting how many calories those meals contain. Having an understanding what a meal looks like in calories is pretty helpful in a weight loss journey.
For example, I realised I was eating about 500 calories in bread and cheese after each lunch and dinner alone when I was with family in France.
On top of all the additional Christmas excess.
Have got the nutracheck. Much better that my fitness pal. Its synced with garmin connect and shows any activities I've done but garmin hasn't synced with nutra to show calorie intake is this normal?
