There's no way you'd find someone of equal quality or potential for that price. £1m and a loan back to the end of the season might see us through a rocky patch, but it doesn't really solve any of our problems.

From a positive point of view, we didn't spend anything on him when we signed him for the youth team from Arsenal, but it would be nice to get through this admin process without being completely stripped of assets first.

He was on £300k a week though, right? That's £25m+ over the remainder of his contract. If he wasn't going to play then it's better to get that off your books.

It was the rational decision to move him on, given where they had go to. I think they should never have got into that position. Then again, a lot of clubs make ridiculously expensive mistakes.

ellis simms (on loan from everton to hearts) looks a decent player. baningime (ex-everton academy, also at hearts) can play too.
