I do solemnly swear I have finally abandoned all hope of finding a really good Verdant beer. Putty being yet another bang average can.
-
• #10979
Putty is their annual dry January busting hype machine. If it’s so fucking good, why not make it all year? It’s no better than any of their other DIPAs

I think I had one of the early versions of Pulp and One More PSI that were great but trying them again they were meh.

Mary Lou can be incredible when they make it with the loral hops but they don’t always do that. They have a taproom in Bristol and there are a few of their beers that are average from a can but mind blowing from a keg. The laps of the garden on being a case in point

The rumour is they are struggling, which if true is a shame.
Funny how these opportunities come up when for the first time in my life I've got a decent chunk of cash to invest......
Unfortunately my wife doesn't have a pension so will be looking for something 'sensible' ! -

Great artwork though.
(I like the beer, again)

That’s exactly what the guy selling it to me said too.

BBNo referral
I did this (I imagine you got an email). That's a friend's birthday present sorted! Cheers!

Friend of mine used to brew for Weird Beard. From his reports it did not sound like a well run business.

Did some great beers though.....

Popped into the local Sainsbury's on the way home from the new job in Otley W.Yorks yesterday.
Do they really have that much of a shit beer selection nationally? Came away with just two bottles of ale that seemed interesting. Nowhere near as good as Tesco or Morrisons!
Could almost be worth driving to Ilkley on Friday just to indulge in the fine selection of beer that Booths has to offer.

The New Cross Sainsbury’s has a rather impressive selection.

This seems to be completely unnecessary

A bit far for me.

The nearest Sainsbury to me has a middling section, I wouldn't go there over Waitrose or the big Tesco.
They do have Old Tom though, which is always worth the trip for -
• #10993
They did have Old Tom. But been there, seen it.
Probably should have got one.
If I do make the trek to Ilkley I'll post a pic of their selection. 'Waitrose of the North' after all!
Although Otley has a Waitrose so I'll see what they are like tomorrow.

Went to the "other" Sainsbury's in my area, poor selection, buy I did pick up a Maple Pancake pale.
Sweet (obviously) and quite nice.
From Fierce (?) Brewery. Also grabbed a coupe of Old Tom as I mentioned it before.

I keep being tempted by that Fierce Maple Pancake can when I’m doing my shop but I’m not one to want to gamble £3.50 on it.
-
• #10996
I liked it, but was a few Guinness in already, and I do have a penchant for sweeter beers.

Might get a can this weekend to have whilst bottling my home brew then.

The Wild Beer Ninkasi 750ml bottles still not moving @ £7.50 in my Sainsburys. If it goes to £5 I might have a punt.
The Cloudwater West Coast IPA in Tesco is not a reason to stop buy Sierra Nevada/Lagunitas

Tried the Fierce Maple Pancake that was discussed above and enjoyed it. Would struggle to have more than one in a sitting I think. My partner is slowly tying to get into beer and I’ve been introducing her to NEIPA and Juicy IPAs as a gateway and this was another that she enjoyed too. Likely because it didn’t taste like beer.
Weird Beard up for sale
