• I'd go with Ulradynamicos, just for the hipster bonus points!

  • I do like the very minimal branding.

  • Me too. May get a pair of Cavas for the 650b bike, when stock is available.

  • Can already tell this is going to look slick! Was actually going to go purple on mine until I got lucky with the turquoise bits on eBay

  • Cheers! Your Faran is really nice! I was able to pick the purple seatpost clamp, Headset and bb with the frame directly from Fairlight. So that was easy :).

  • In the meantime I finally managed to setup a new cockpit and some other small bits for the Raleigh.
I’ve had the Simworks Getaround bars for ages but they didn’t fit my old stem for some reason. I watched eBay for a while but nothing good and suitable came up so I sourced a Nitto Technomic from Germany via my Mom.
I picked up some Paul levers and a Nitto mini rack from here and was able to get a Son Edelux II for trade price. While I was at it I also properly shortened the mudguard struts.
It’s super nice now. Handles really well and it’s not too short anymore. I am allowed out again since yesterday and used the nice weather today for some pictures.

  • I need to drink more water so I picked up a big bottle cage and a Nalgene which doubles as a bike stand.

  • Ticking so many Instagram boxes! But it does look lovely, pretty chilled to ride I imagine?

  • It’s longer and wider now. So potentially it is a bit more sporty but it is really comfortable too. I need to ride this a bit more for a final conclusion but I think it’s a perfect all arounder.

  • So pretty! Needs a paint job now ;)

  • Oh yeah it does! The primer is peeling away on the welds of the new rear end and I don’t want it to rust away again.

  • I like that a lot - nice proportions, lots of lovely silver kit, perfectly put together. Very tidy. I want to ride it around on holiday in the sunshine

Also: that secan mock up is great. I think you will actually pull off the orange and purple! The silver parts help. Grey tyres aren’t for me but the g one all round is a great tyre. I went for cannonballs over them for a bit more traction off road but on tarmac I think the allround is better

  • Looks smashing!

  • everything in here is looking very swish isn't it. love it.

  • I already liked this thing with drop bars a lot, but now I'm fully in love with it.

  • this is v v good.

Also I think The Woods cyclery had those ultradynamicos in stock when we popped in

  • Looks good. Making me think I should try some different colour grips and get round to fitting the rack on my 1x1.

  • 100% Yes! I'm now convinced I'm going to low rent carbon copy this on my Randonneur. A paint job will be nice but I also kind like it in it's characterful 'worked-on' look.

  • @stelfox: Cheers! "I want to ride it around on holiday in the sunshine." That's exactly the vibe. I also prefer the proportions of the bike with these new bars. With the drops I always felt like it looks weirdly tall and empty without the bar bag.

@spotter: Thanks! Means a lot coming from you. A lot of the bikes you post around here heavily inspired this bike.

@Maj: Gonna print that and hang it on my wall.

@vpCogworks: Thank you! I think I prefer these bars too.

@atk: Do it! I'd love a 1x1. I started too late getting into fat tyred bikes and now it seems like they are very rare.

@baguette: "low rent" is cool! This started as a budget project too. The recent more spendy bits only made it onto the bike because by now I know I love this bike! The cassette, shifters and derailleurs are classic cheap bits off eBay but they are brilliant!

    @lt: Cheers!
The Mars Race (grey) tyre is sold out with them online. The Rose Race tyre in 700c x 42 or 650b x 47.?$£ looks about the same on the shelf and it seems like they still have some of those.

At the moment I am gravitating towards the Black JFF Mars tyres. They just look so rad.
Here is a quick sketch and a picture of @PhotonBelt s Custom Brother Mehteh rocking those exact tyres.

  • Oh hello there 😉 👋

Loving the new cockpit on the raleigh 👍

  • I just made a frame template to tinker around with the decals and paint job for the Raleigh. I still like the Art Deco lettering I came up with a few pages back. However, all of it on the downtube is quite massive. Having just the imaginary model name on the downtube seems more balanced but then I am not quite sure what to do with the Raleigh...

  • I vote 3 or 4 but, RE:4 could also work with the graphics swapped i.e. raleigh on the DT and hinterland on the TT. (which i think is the way that raleigh layed it out?)

  • I'm not sure if two different fonts are working together well,

I like the idea that having hinterland as a main decal on downtube, as opposed having raleigh. Sort of giving authenticity to frame. But them it doesn't quite make sense to have raleigh on top tube as the common logic asks to place "manufacturer" on downtube. I find it the main trouble.

Therefore, I would either consider having single decal on downtube or just going classical way as @spotter suggests.

  • The Raleigh’s looking mighty fine. Is the model called Hinterland or did you come up with the name? In any case, it’s pretty cool :) I reckon a subtle light green would go well with the silver bits. Really like the green on Velocio’s robin mather for instance:

BTW: There’s a 1x1 for sale in Germany atm.

  • @spotter Yes, the original setup is the other way around. Raleigh on the down tube and model name on the top tube. I think I am going to stick with Hinterland on the dt though.

@JonasGeitus I agree. Two fonts aren't ideal but the art deco font doesn't work that well in small in my opinion.

@Sig_Arlecchino Cheers! I think I have settled on the colours already. The name Hinterland is a made-up model name. I wrote about it a few pages back (Colour, Name).

I think this needs a few more iterations. I am also going to try spacing out the lettering a bit more. So it's slightly less condensed.
