• Advice needed, however I appreciate this might seem like a stupid question.

    Myself and wife both positive, her since Tuesday me since yesterday. Daughter is negative since Wednesday, son now just a faint positive - hopefully he’ll test negative tomorrow and Monday.

    Kids are required to be at school if not isolating - are wife or I allowed to drive them to school if we stay in the car and don’t go near anyone? No grandparents anywhere nearby that could help.

    Background to this is school phoning us up and threatening to fine us if we didn’t get the kids to school when I was waiting for a (negative) PCR result a few weeks ago.

    There are (not widely publicised) exemptions for various circumstances, which include:

    • to fulfil a legal obligation;
    • to access critical public services.

    Do these apply here?

    No. I know other people who have kept their kids at home because they couldn't take them to school.

  • • to fulfil a legal obligation;

    The full line in the legislation is

    to fulfil a legal obligation, including attending court or satisfying bail conditions, or participating in legal proceedings,

    I don't think that is the same as take a kid to school.
