I was at that game, probably his worst performance in the hoops to be fair. Our team has been so shite for so long it was certainly a low bar for Carroll to shine, and he was feeding off scraps for the entirety

As I said, I'd be the first to be delighted if he banged in 10 goals in the next month but I'm not holding my breath.
Our performance against Preston on Wednesday night was the worst I've seen in 10 years of my season ticket. Left at 75 minutes.
So he might fit right in! :-D

It still has its use as a corrective force. Another Carroll scene: his last great moment, the eight-minute hat-trick against Arsenal in 2016, when Carroll seemed to overwhelm a decadent late-Wenger defence like a mountain landslip, like an angry buffalo hurled from a hotel balcony, like 1500 tons of refrigerated corned beef dumped into the waves by a stricken supertanker, like nemesis, the revenge of nature; or like a competent centre-forward taking advantage of slack marking on crosses to the back post.

I didn't know barney ronay was on here

I didn't realise this was the covid thread where everything needed to be linked.

• #160159
Ha! I genuinely didn't realise that was BR, was making the joke that your comment seemed BR-aspirational 🤣

BR has/had such love for AC. Chaos engine, trebuchet, sinews. All words he used.
-
• #160161
He is instead a fixed-gear colossus.

If the great BR was on here, ooooooooffffff

• #160163
I bet he's lurking, lapping up the drool, regurgitating it into word soup.

Imagine. HIM AND JW AND SID.
THE HOLY TRINITY. -

Honestly, that disallowed volley is a thing of wonder.

lots of gossip about luis diaz to the pool today, he did nothing against us in the champions league so was a bit worried, then watched a highlight package of his and he looks pretty decent, like a cross between mane and salah, skills, long range shooting, dribbles a lot and quicker than either salah or mane, nothing beats a bit of pace up top
with our current front 3 ( excluding jota ) getting on in years he seems like a decent bet for the future

allison sent of twice for brazil in their latest match, but reprieved both times by var

Even Andy Caroll looks good on a highlight reel.
*I do quite like his wrecking ball style tho
-
• #160169
Wouldn't it be better if he was sent off and therefore missed more national team games??

Lampard at Everton - how long do you give him ?
-
• #160171
6 months
celtic really dodged a bullet in not appointing benitez or howe, in retrospect

He’ll do fine at Everton if they understand that they’re unlikely to be finishing top half for the next couple of seasons. He needs Jody Morris with him though to do all the work behind the scenes while he goes on a media charm offensive.
Best news of the day was hearing that Rooney turned down the opportunity to interview for the position when Everton approached him.

Honestly, that disallowed volley is a thing of wonder.
in a 7-0 defeat just adds the absolute chefs kiss. the last great striking yeti

• #160174
It adds to the mythology around him.
Like that Jan Molby screamer only 300000000 people saw.

Sweepstake on when Conte will chin Levy.
If I put £10 on today and £15 on tomorrow, that should cover all the bases.
My favourite Andy article...
