• Colour Bolt track frame with Ratty Black textured paint finish and carbon front fork

51/52cm frame fitted with Sturmey Archer S2C Black 2 Speed Kick Shift Coaster Brake Rear Hub.

    Gear 1 100% (direct drive)
Gear 2 138% (Gear 1 +38%) meaning you get the look of a single speed but the added gear.

This is a track frame so you don’t have a cabled rear brake. But the coaster brake gives you that security.

They also have the original rear wheel that will go with the bike, so you have the option to ride this on track/as a fixed gear bike.

46/21 current set up but the fixed rear wheel gives 46/16.

    £1k or reasonable/sensible offers

  • 1k is in £1000

  • you want a grand for that?

  • I'm told that's how much it's worth. It's not mine, and not the kind of bike I'm into.

Don't worry, you don't have to get involved.

  • Any more info on the manufacturer?

And an idea of original cost?

  • Colour Bolt is the manufacturer. https://www.colourbolt.com/.

I'm learning myself here, to be honest: "The bespoke frames are built by Lee Cooper and BTR Fabrications in lightweight steel then coated in one of their hard wearing signature finishes, an amazing range of blacks or stunning polished finish."

I can find out how much it cost originally.

  • I might be wrong here, but I have a feeling the one you have here is aluminium and not hand made.
I like the paint and the hub idea, but I think the value might be lower than 1000.

  • I suppose at least you're being polite about it.

    Make an offer. :)

  • There are drabs of info about them around the internet.

all handbuilt to order by Coventry framebuilder Lee Cooper. The range uses Columbus Spirit, XCR and Life steel tubing, with each variant painted or finished to reflect its intended use.

Wishing to keep logos to the minimum, ColourBolt bikes have just a single red, or copper coloured chainring bolt to distinguish them. ColourBolt builds can be ordered through Tokyo Fixed, Micycle and Harvey Nichols in London.

The paint job and chainring bolt seem to match up. I'm genuinely curious about the frame, how it was built and with what material.

First quote is about a specific model which obviously isn't this one.

  • Oh it's a legit Colour Bolt, for sure.

I have asked my mate to confirm the material and what the deal was when she ordered it etc.

  • I'm almost certain it's not.

  • What makes you so certain, @PhilDAS ?

  • There just aren't those tube profiles in Spirit, life or XCR. There's not an aero steel seat tube with integrated clamp like that in steel but there is in aluminium.
The deep aero downtube isn't available from Columbus in steel, nor the hour glass shaped head tube, and the seat stays are too chunky

  • It does look like alu to me as well. Especially around the dropouts.
If a magnet sticks to it it is steel so an easy test to confirm the material.

  • Steel plates on the rear dropouts wouldn't be necessary as well.

  • It's hard to find any info about it at all. A model name could be helpful.

  • Fair points, all of those. Thanks chaps. I'll ask for a magnet test to be carried out!

  • Almost sure that the seattube is the same (alu) aero seat-tube many manufacturers use in their AL track frames. The old Dolan Track Champion for example, heres mine, broken, mid-surgery:

(Not to highlight that they break, mine was most likely over torqued, totally user error.)

  • Right, it's aluminium.

Sorry for the confusion - not trying to mislead anyone!

    No model name, apparently.

  • Not to highlight that they break, mine was most likely over torqued, totally user error.

They didn't earn the nickname Crack Champ for nothing.
