Aghh! I was also certain I had it in three but again made the mistake of trying to be too clever with the third guess.

What do you mean about trying to be too clever? As the third guess was accepted, it could have been correct.

My third guess was a word that I would consider more obscure than what the day's word was. With hindsight everything is obvious, of course. I'm just starting to see a pattern with my early guesses where I think I should have tried a 'simpler' word. I'm over-thinking it!
