Yeh, I think it’s a once only thing. I don’t need to stay in the resorts so that may work a little bit off.
In more positive news, we’ll actually negative, just got the LFT done for Eurostar tomorrow. Yay.

Left knee is swollen, somewhat, this morning. It’s the external/left face of the knee and also behind the knee. It’s ok at a slightly bent position so I’ll give it a go today, doesn’t like fully straightening or bending to 90 degrees, but that just means I’ll have to be careful on the lifts.

I would get that checked mate. Travel insurance should cover most of the (extortionate in resort) fees.

Really need to work out how I'm going to get a long weekend/4 day trip to the alps in. Had a wee one in october so it's not straightforward.
Really need to get myself over though. Contemplating going on my own.

It’s done ok this morning. I’m a bit loathe to see le Medecin in case they tell me to sit on my arse for the next week.

Totally understandable.

If you do manage to stick it out, i'd really consider getting some advice when you get back to the UK, to make sure that you don't end up with a longer term problem. Really don't intend to piss on your holiday, i'm just speaking from experience. Your body is trying to immobilise your knee because it is damaged.

If you're planning on not sitting on your arse anyway then may as well get the diagnosis now so that you have the info for when you do listen to them.
That sounds more passive aggressive than it was intended. Just meant get the info regardless of what you plan to do with it.

You could try a brace, if it's not too bad

I guess the issue is that if there is a problem and the doc says non to skiing, then any further insurance is invalid if Dammit does still slide about?

Really don't intend to be a downer for Neil by urging him to be cautious, but this just reminds me of something that happened to me in 2013 and I'd hate him to make the same mistake. Of course, he could totally style it out and have no problems though.
I had a nasty but ultimately not too worrying crash in a half pipe at the olympic park in Calgary. During the crash one of my skis came off, helicoptered round, and smacked me right on my patellar. It swelled up a bit and motion was affected but I skied on for another week.
Got home, carried on running and cycling and felt like there was a tiny niggle there. Nothing notable, just a sensation that something was "off". Three weeks after the crash, my knee just had a meltdown and that was me in physio for six months, working out the muscle imbalances I had built from running and skiing on when I had a knee that was inflamed and telling me to stop. It probably took me a year to get back to full fitness in total.
And that was nearly ten years ago, when I was closter to 30 than 40.

I’ll get it checked when I get home, or if it gets worse. I walked down several flights of stairs today, so it’s getting better.

Currently on the first ski train of the season. 14 people in our carriage. Shame the seats don’t recline.

Flying to Geneva next Saturday the. Getting the bus to Chamonix.... Filling out all the covid forms ect (sigh) passenger location form.... Says final destination, that's France. The. Says please select how you will be traveling. Well I'll be traveling into France via bus from Geneva but it has no option for that..... Not exactly sure how to proceed to as I really can't be bothered for the hassle of it all going tits up because iv not done this all right. Iv got a feeling I'm over thinking all this and it will be fine and easy. If anyone can shed some light on the process or recent covid experience doing similar or the same regarding tests and stuff would but my brain at rest.
Cheers

Better today, less pain, less stiffness. Swollen, for sure, but it’s getting there.
Having a very relaxed day today- just did the enfants long green down from Pres La Jou, complete with vache cartoons to ski through

First day in the 3 valleys. First impression? They need new snow. There is excellent cover but much of it is hard as hell. It takes some work to find decent piste to turn on. The areas down the side appears to be best.
It’s also pretty quiet, it’s changeover day so it’ll be interesting to see if it busys up tomorrow. -

I've just been through this - flew London to Geneva those morning, and then bus transfer to Flaine.
Having read the Swiss govt website I thought we were exempt from submitting the Switzerland passenger locator form as we were just passing through - I'm sure I read that - but I was wrong.
So you fill in to say you're arriving in Switzerland by plane. Then later in the form you say you're 'in transit' (I think that's where you would otherwise provide details of where you're staying in Switzerland).
All easy enough got a barcode within seconds, they scanned that at Luton airport and that's all we need until we arrived in France.
Suppose we may need to do it again on the way home next week. -

Did you encure any fines? What did you have to do then. I'll be sure to state all modes of transport and locations and legs of the journey.
-

No, all good - just filled in the form on our mobiles while waiting at the check-in desk in Luton. It's quite straightforward but think you need the seat number for your flight.
We had to show the French passe sanitaire (on the TousAntiCovid app) on arrival at our hotel, too.
Rules keep changing of course so might be different for you. -

You can always find good snow in Les trois vallees, it's so big.
Hit the trees above Courchevel 1650. Or go way out East to the fourth valley beyond Les Menuires.
Mont Vallon also a good shout.

This chat reminds me of a trip I was on a few years ago with a friend who has insurance, but not for skiing off piste.
He had to be carried about half of a mile with a broken ankle and laid on the piste so he didn’t have to foot the bill for a heli rescue.

A bit like when the RAC had to collect my car, which had blown up it's engine right at the entry to Donington Park.
Sounds £££ (on top of the usual skiing holiday premium)
