  • Amazing stuff.

  • Nurse Crumpet is helping me get over Covid. She has an excellent bed side manner.

  • Some top hounds on this page. Here's my wee four legged pal:

We took her in as a foster about two and a half years back and she just fit with our lives so beautifully we couldn't pass her up so we adopted. She's coming up to 13 years old now and still plays like a puppy - top hound. If you're ever over Jubilee Park in E10 and you see a crotchety and excited old four legged lady, barking at a small dog for not playing with her, it's likely that you've just seen Pickle.

  • Got ours a new bed

  • I would literally die for this dog. When I'm sick, or hungover, and I retire to my sick bed, having a little snoozing dog next to me literally keeps me going. Dogs are magic. We do not deserve them.

    Get well soon dude.

  • Nori had an "interview" at a local doggy day care in SE London to see if it might work for her. Although muzzled she aced it but i'm a bit concerned about how many dogs there were in the main pen. Obviously lots of factors at play but do people that use them have an opinion on how many dogs per staff member is acceptable?

Also, would you expect some sort of organised activities for the dogs? Felt like a good place to practice her socialising outside of the park but not convinced she'd be having a great time after an hour of plodding around a pen with a bunch of strange dogs. Nori obviously has some special needs so we're limited on where we can go and who will take her.

  • Yeah, her and this guy have been taking good care of me! Apart from the feeling unwell part, lying in bed reading with both of them has been quite a pleasant way to spend the day.

  • She looks lovely! Great name too, we had a lab called Pickle when I was growing up.

  • I've never used a doggy day care, so can't help. I'm pretty sure both of mine would get kicked out on their first day...

However, it does sound like you've done brilliantly with Nori. I bet you couldn't have imagined this would be possible a few months ago.

  • Lovely. My last staffy very nearly made it to 16 and was like a pup up until the last month or so.

  • mine would get kicked out on their first day

There were two other staff's that were easily the calmest friendliest dogs there. No doubt when play kicks off it's a royal rumble but a lot less yappy and nervy than many of the other dogs.

She's doing great thanks. We had a reminder of why she needs a muzzle just over a week ago but it was her first hairy incident in about 6 months. Although Nori went for the other dog the owner was actually really apologetic as it's pretty clear she's not always gonna play nice. I'm thinking day care is not gonna be great for her at this stage. You shouldn't really muzzle a dog for long periods so much more than an hour would be unfair. Might just take her along to play for an hour and see how she gets on.

    Your two are looking great.

  • Anywhere above 14 is such a great innings for a staff. And they wisely pack their time on this earth with such pure unadulterated joy, often over absolutely nothing. Best dogs.

  • The hairy dog was getting too hairy, decided to bite the bullet & go for a short back & sides all over as her puppy coat pretty much fell out in one massive lump and turned the entire Mavis to felt... before & after 😬

  • Eyes like deep wells of ink.

  • Is Mavis a poodle?

  • Extremely cute either way! Bet she's enjoying being able to see properly.

  • That’s brilliant!

  • She's the smallest labradoodle in town - there must be some miniature poodle in there somewhere along with the various labs / poodles / spaniels etc. but she definitely looks poodley after a haircut! She's good as gold - very obedient, wild energy, webbed feet, loves a stick, cries at puddles - been quite an interesting year seeing all these different traits develop!

I've tried giving her a quick trim with some thinning scissors in the past but gave up after 10 minutes - there's a lot of tricky bits on a moving target
