Only thing that puts me off is the lack of rack mounts etc

Drop the tyres pressure then.

It's running 75psi as it is! Still stiff as poop, just handles worse. And punctures more. I don't get all the fuss about open paves..

does it have boost? if not its not really a gravel bike.

you just have to ask your self these questions:

What is the min gravel tyre width? 29x2.4 WITH mud clearance
What frame standard can fit that with laterally stiff wheel and shorter stays? Boost

If it makes its way into the gravel thread, it'll become a gravel bike

Still don't understand how people think 3mm wider at the dropouts equates to a bigger tyre clearance
