Just fuck off you lying cunt
So much this. Lloyd Russell-Moyle channeled my feelings at PMQs today, well worth a watch if you've not seen.

Sounds like pmq’s could be replacing hollyoaks in terms of ridiculous overacting and drama

It's so interesting isn't it?
You see it in other areas too. Ecstacy for eg. Goes without saying that deaths from ecstasy are a tragedy, but we happily accept deaths from alcohol or cars.
With cars what is so odd is that there are still loads of easy measures you could take - 0-60 speed limiters, max speed limiters, etc. that people would go absolutely spare over but are objectively sensible

What do you reckon the ratio of deaths caused by cars going over 60 to cars going under 60 is? I'd wager the vast majority occur in cars going under 60

• #70358
By 0-60 limiters I'm assuming it's a limit on acceleration.

I don't think he was acting - seemed genuinely angry!
Not totally sure if he won't get a minor bollocking from Labour for that.

I’ve always thought speed limit limiters would make a radical difference. Imagine if everyone did 30 in a 30, 20 in a 20, 70 in a 70, etc?

That guy who deliberately designed the flaw in the exhaust ports of the Death Star though, would he have been covered by corporate responsibility against claims from the families of Stormtroopers or civilian contractors?
Pretty sure he got killed in Rogue One.

It’s good to see some personality coming from him

Also seems an unusual thing to target in an attempt to prevent deaths, are there that many deaths caused by a rapid acceleration of a car?
Honestly it seemed like the opposite version of "If we just put registration plates on bicycles, all the problems caused by those pesky cyclists will just disappear"
-
• #70365
I'd wager a fair amount of twats crashing cars is due to them flooring it and not being able to control their overpowered twatmobile, but black boxes and GPS linked limiters all round will do until a robot can drive everyone about.

Maybe he's on a cut of the ratings. Would no doubt cover the legal fees.

I don't think he has the intelligence required to demonstrate forethought of that level.

Why does Andrew want a jury trial? Surely he doesn't think he's popular and credible in the US?
-
• #70369
Mandatory black box and dashcams would eliminate 90% of car-based crime I reckon. Will surely happen if/when self-driving cars overtake human cars in popularity. Want to drive yourself? You have to prove you're doing it safely
-
• #70370
It would, after a period of adjustment, cut out a load of dick overtaking which I reckon probably does cause plenty of deaths.

Bit or train drivers who still manned a fully autonomous trains.
There are plenty of unstaffed trains around the place. Some Paris metro lines and most airport transits for example. They remove much of the complexity of public roads, no bloody cyclists for example.

TBH Idk.
But I guess my thinking is in terms of how fast modern cars are - especially EVs - so that you'd need to restrict acceleration as well as max speed.
Although I can believe most deaths are caused sub 50mph.
Edit
CTM has a nice infographic which says speed is only 5% and the general vibe can be summed up by shit driving

I have no doubt those incidents result in a load of trashed Mustangs and Chargers, but deaths? I seriously doubt it

Speed limiters that adjust to the local limit are coming in the EU, and the UK. All new type approvals from the summer and all new cars in a couple of years IIRC. I've had one in my car for the last 4 years.

That was my general opinion at least. 20/30mph zones are a hell of a lot more dangerous than motorways/dual carriageways. And frankly I find the people going 50 on a motorway much more dangerous than those going 80+. Same goes for people who decide to overtake someone doing 68 by moving out and doing 68.5, resulting in overtakes that seem to last several minutes.
Course not - didn't you read that she was driving a car?
