Maidan voyage, 20 minute ride around the block, spokes pinging away! First impressions are good. Fit is perfect and the Mavic brakes are ridiculously powerful.

Unfortunately I live in a very hilly area, and the 53/39 is killer. I’ve not ridden a bike with any sort of effort for over a year so my legs look like those of an 11 year old gamer. Hoping muscle memory is still a thing past 35 😰

I am starting to think a black seat post collar and silver seatpost would work better. If anyone has a silver alien for sale - hit me up!

Seatpost collar is a slightly esoteric 29.6mm though. Seemingly only available from Niner bikes. Black one is hard to find. 29.8 would work but wouldn’t be as satisfying!

Coming together really nicely. I wasn't sure about the black USE post at first but the more i look at it the more i like. I do think the clamp is a bit lumpy looking, i know it's 29.8 but a silver Thomson might tidy things up (and match the grey silver of the cranks). Feels like it's missing a bit of silver at the front, maybe a silver top cap or silver Nitto bar plugs?

Quite like it this way really. Did the same thing myself (switch out black seatpost for silver to match with other silver bits), but I didn't like it at all.

I threw on the saddle and post from my other bike. I don’t hate it …. And no, it’s not getting binned just yet
