Bought a detached house to avoid as much of this stuff as poss.
That said our last neighbours were awesome -
• #2529
Oh ours are fine really, they're just unaware they've chosen to not get to know my really charitable side!

• #2530
Amazing. Quite like the look of that too. Any pics?

We haven't got that far yet!
This is what was granted though:

Awesome, cheers for sharing.
What were the issues (before I start picking through all the docs)? -
• #2533
A lot of somewhat dubious surveyors keep an eye on planning documents that are being filed and then contact the neighbours with dire warnings of the consequences of not getting a separate surveyor for the party wall (that surveyor obviously being them).
I was a bit pissed when my previous neighbours went down that route, particularly as their surveyor cost shitloads more than mine, but in the end I thought it was fair enough.

No issues really, just standard planning delays. It took over 4 months to get a basic dormer conversion! Every time a new deadline loomed, the planners would ask for another (often spurious) bit of information which they would then take 6-8 weeks to review...

Had this the other week - other neighbour (not the one with the wanky note) are building a shed at the end of the garden. Party Wall surveyor telling us it'll affect us (it won't) and to get in touch.
They can jog on, and do some proper work.

maybe some sanding here and there. There won't have been any noise!
Really? A note about weekend working doesn't exactly seem unreasonable.

They were painting. I can't figure out why it was an issue.

Hahaha, it might’ve been that!

Has anyone used a company/firm for a rear ground floor kitchen extension that does everything from start to finish (design, planning, building, the whole nine yards)? We're umming and ahhing about whether to redo the kitchen as it is or go all out. Hard to decide without even a hint of an idea of likely costs.

How do I fit the coloured blank panels to cover up the void between a corner unit and another unit without showing screws? If I move the existing non painted panel backwards there's nothing on the other side to screw into. Battens? What am I missing?

In an ideal world I'd push the entire run of cabinets along so as not to saw the painted panels at all. I.e. Stick one onto the other forming an L and then stick one edge where the current corner cabinet panel is and drill into the narrow edge from the other unit. But there's nothing to drill through on the other side (but perhaps a batten. Maybe a batten stuck to the non painted panel if it's slid along?

The fact I now know they're called inside corner fillers is a big help in searching, thank you :)

bumping my post - any ideas?
Original/current floorplan here
Here is a mockup i've created using ikea kitchen panel
Here's a 2d version of the ikea plan
I wanted to move the kitchen into the 'core' of the house - the extension has lower ceilings and the long and narrow nature of it made bringing the dining and kitchen area together a bit tricky. The extension meanwhile will be an office/utility space.
Is this a good use of space? Can you think of ways it could be done better? Likely to stick a couch or something in the empty space next to the dining table.

Those windows/doors are quite different between the two, is that deliberate? Be good to know where the sun rises and sets too plus what the infiltration currently is and whether it should be considered as part of the plans. I like this example of designing both inside and outside spaces: https://mustardarchitects.com/projects/casa-del-sole
Yeah its odd, she is otherwise a really good and nice person, just something in her head isn't wired right and she becomes totally irrational about work being done. Her surveyor was a loon too, prob met at loon club.
She sent her son to a private school so he could get a better education and do well in life, she's a single mother so prob struggled to afford that so I can't help but respect her in some ways, but at one point I was thinking of fire bombing her son's Beemer when he visited.
