Apparently the building control did visit as the property as development is a wee bit contentious with the neighbours. Turns out that because the entire roof was constructed without scaffolding the inspector could only do his job from the ground floor, and presumably left with a large, brown envelope in his pocket.
All together now:

Not try to teach you to duck eggs but did building control come out to the property? As that sounds like a self cert by the builder, as I would hope building control would be better on the visible stuff.
