Yeah i definitely agree, that said i really like the gym. I found it really useful to have sessions with a sports physio & PT as it did two things:
Gave me a range of exercises to focus on, enough to be able to have varied workouts.
Provided me with the confidence in how to do those exercises and also that I could go much heavier than I expected (which is important for running).
eg when I started I would single leg press 60-70kg and think I was doing well but they said I should be looking to get close to double that as the force you put through your leg is roughly equivalent to double your weight. I was soon up to 100kg+ And whilst I’ve never managed double my BW this assurance was really useful.
The other thing is I throw in some more ‘vanity’ exercises at the gym bc doing a very focussed compound session can be kinda boring so mixing it up a little can help.
