Can it wait till after the heating goes off?

As in spring/summer? If so, yes it can wait. We have a conventional system boiler with thermostatic valve one side and drain off the other.

Morning,

Personally, I am concerned about messing about with a heating system when I need it to work.

But the trick is make sure both valves can fully shut. Then as others have shown the technique to get behind the rad. I'd support the bottom of the rad too.
