That is good to know, cheers! They seem a reasonable bet. I don’t mind taking my time.
I haven’t sent film to a lab for years and just can’t bring myself to do it (I’d miss developing too much). Scanning feels like the last piece of the puzzle.
@amey too kind, but I don’t think I could deal with the compatability shenanigans of owning an older scanner. Unless it really is more straightforward than I imagine?
I have this Plustek one.
Given that you get SilverFast SE 8 with it the price is pretty good.
The scan quality is very nice if you know what you're doing (turn the right knobs in SF, use multi-pass etc.).
I suggest you make sure the software runs on your operating system - the version I got didn't run on Catalina, and I worked around it by installing Windows 7 via Parallels Desktop; this worked fine.. but in the end I couldn't be arsed to scan myself anymore.
So long sory short make shure you really want / need to scan yourself, personally I do prefer to spend a few bucks to have it done for me at the lab with a Frontier that gives even better results of course, and have them send me the files via WeTransfer a couple hours later.
It's totally worth the money, YMMV of course.
